New Year, in reality a new time, and a new website. In trying something new with the kcits.com website, the website has been transitioned to a new Web CMS. This CMS is quite a bit different from the previous CMS.

The new CMS is Grav IT is interesting to not utilizing a DB and only using files. Using a flat file system has its benefits. With it also using Twig, Markdown, YAML, Symfony components, and Doctrine Caching it makes a completely different setup and process. The one item that is extremely powerful is the content can be managed via the Admin or via direct access files (FTP). Call me a little old-school but I am comfortable managing a website handwriting HTML.

There are a few things that are a difficult to lose:

  • Front end editing
  • Spell check
  • Things you would get with using a DB!
